VISA
INTERNATIONAL 1993-1999 Developed the smartcard (ICC) global industry standard functional and technical specifications for the Common Electronic Purse. Created the UML design for Visa's product using Rational Rose. The specifications cover card transactions and public key certificate security as well as issuer and acquirer processing for a simplified global cash transfer model. Designed the global ERP backoffice processing environment and router/message broker based transaction switching architecture, integrating Visa and all worldwide members in the business rules based integrated workflow application for dispute resolution, financial transfers and fraud management. Performed business analysis including global member surveys, wrote the business case, business and functional requirements, and designed the architecture and technical specifications. Designed the systems management/ disaster recovery infrastructure for all Visa global data centers encompassing all hardware platforms. Performed business and problem analysis for all Visa data center environments, all Visa host and mid-range systems, and defined requirements for all systems management functions. Evaluated and selected all recommended toolsets, designed the combined tools infrastructure, created the cross organizational operational support plans and procedures and authored the combined multi-year global processing environment architecture and implementation plan. Represented Visa at the Gartner Symposium from 1995 through 1997, focusing on electronic commerce development and Internet security issues, wireless technology, router based switching, message brokers, object oriented design and multi-tier architectures. Designed and delivered the global electronic report access and data mining system (Electronic Output Management system) which supported disaster recovery through transparent user access as well as flexibility of application movement between processing hosts while saving $3 million annually over the prior paper report distribution method. Conducted the business process analysis identifying environmental problems, identified undeployed tools available for a cost-effective solution, composed the business case, business and functional requirements and technical specifications, created all training materials, procedures and testing environments, and was project manager for the global cross-organizational team from initial assessment through project implementation. Implemented the global CRM support and case based decision tree analytics system for Visa members and data centers that resulted in dramatically improved member satisfaction, lower support costs and uninterrupted business continuity. When placed in the leadership of the failing project, renegotiated the vendor agreement, brought Visa staff into the project and trained the team, brought organization and teamwork to the multi-organizational project and successfully delivered the system in the original timeframe and budget. Designed the Visa Service Initiation supply chain management project, whose re-engineered optimized processes across organizational boundaries reduced service implementation costs by half while reducing service implementation lead times by 75%. Initiated the project, coordinated the global organizational stakeholders, selected and trained the team, and managed the budget. Also Director responsible for PKI management and cardholder access to all worldwide Visa systems. |
